CSX releases statement after train, tractor

UPDATE (4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9): CSX has released a statement in reference to a train and tractor-trailer crash that happened in Hurricane Wednesday morning.

CSX said this happened at Spur Lane in Hurricane around 9:52 a.m. They said the train hit the semi-truck’s trailer. Because of this, some of the leading locomotives’ wheels came off the tracks, but they said, “it remained upright and in line.”

Part of CSX’s statement said they, “[appreciate] the swift response of the local first responders to the scene and we will cooperate fully in the investigation.”

No injuries are being reported.

HURRICANE, WV (WOWK) — A train hit a tractor-trailer trying to cross the tracks in Hurricane Wednesday morning.

Putnam County dispatchers say the crash happened around 9:52 a.m. in the 3000 block of Teays Valley Road behind the Hurricane Police Department.

Dispatchers say the train was not hauling anything hazardous. No injuries are being reported.
